About Argonaut Platform
What is Argonaut Platform?
Argonaut is an AI-native decision platform for financial services — covering commercial insurance and commercial lending. It automates the full workflow from application intake to final decision: document extraction, external data enrichment, fraud and risk scoring, and AI-generated outputs like underwriting memos and credit memos. At the center is Argo AI, an embedded language model agent that can explain any risk or credit profile, answer questions about a specific account, and surface portfolio-level insights on demand.
Who is Argonaut built for?
Argonaut serves five user types across two verticals. In commercial insurance: brokers use it to build cleaner submissions and track renewals; MGAs use it to standardize intake and apply underwriting rules at scale; carriers use it to automate the full pipeline from receipt to coverage decision. In commercial lending: loan officers and independent lenders use it to analyze deals, calculate DSCR, generate credit memos, and surface risk flags — and institutional lenders use it as a full credit workbench. Each role has its own portal, workflow, and AI agent configuration.
How is Argonaut different from my current AMS, LOS, or core system?
Argonaut is not a system of record — it's a decision intelligence layer built alongside one. Your AMS stores the policy; your LOS tracks the loan. Argonaut tells you whether to write the risk or fund the deal, and why. It brings AI-driven enrichment, scoring, and structured recommendations to the point of decision — something no AMS or LOS was designed to do. It works alongside your existing systems via its own intake pipeline, with API and webhook integrations on the roadmap.
What products and lines does Argonaut support?
Commercial Insurance: BOP, commercial property, general liability, commercial auto, workers compensation, professional liability (E&O / D&O), and cyber.
Commercial Lending: Commercial term loans, SBA 7(a) and 504, commercial real estate (CRE), construction and bridge loans, equipment finance, and lines of credit / revolvers. Personal consumer lending is not in scope.
How It Works
How does the AI pipeline work?
When a submission or loan application arrives — via form, email, or API — Argonaut automatically extracts structured data from every document using a multimodal AI engine, enriches the record with 100+ external attributes (entity registration, safety records, sanctions, financial signals, credit data, and more), runs fraud detection and risk or credit scoring, and routes the result to the appropriate decision path: auto-approve, auto-decline, or human review queue. The full pipeline runs in under two minutes.
What is Argo AI?
Argo AI is Argonaut's embedded language model agent. It operates at two levels: record-level — answering questions about a specific account or deal ("What's the DSCR on this loan?", "Why was this submission flagged for fraud review?", "Draft a credit memo for this file") — and portfolio-level — answering questions across the full book ("Which deals are in renewal pipeline with elevated risk?", "How has approval rate trended this quarter?"). Every answer Argo gives is cited to source data in the record.
What is Business Pulse?
Business Pulse is a standalone web intelligence and location-risk tool. Enter any company name and it returns a structured research brief — recent news and sentiment, regulatory and licensing status, executive background signals, litigation history, and a red flag summary with confidence scoring — alongside a map of the entered and headquarters address with flood, seismic, and wildfire exposure. It's useful for underwriters, credit officers, and loan officers who need fast entity and location intelligence before a call or submission review. Available as a
free-trial standalone tool — 10 searches with a free account (email verification required), no credit card.
How does DSCR calculation work in the lending tools?
The DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio) tool extracts financial figures directly from uploaded documents — tax returns, P&L statements, rent rolls — using native AI-powered PDF OCR. It calculates Net Operating Income, annual debt service, and the resulting DSCR ratio, then flags the result against configurable threshold benchmarks. For multi-year uploads, it generates a year-over-year trend. The analysis is saved to the deal record and flows automatically into the credit memo draft.
What is straight-through processing (STP)?
STP is automated routing of high-confidence applications to a decision without human review. Argonaut's STP engine evaluates each record's risk score, completeness score, and fraud score against configurable thresholds — set per product line, per institution. Records that clear all thresholds are auto-approved; records with hard-stop flags are auto-declined; everything else reaches a reviewer with full AI context, a recommendation, and the complete decision history. STP is available for both insurance underwriting and lending credit decisions.
What is the Submission Copilot (insurance) and Deal Wizard (lending)?
The Submission Copilot is Argonaut's guided workflow for brokers: it walks through intake, coverage selection, ACORD fields, loss run analysis, risk memo generation, package assembly, and carrier submission — each step pre-filled by AI. The Deal Wizard is the equivalent for loan officers: a 5-step guided flow through application intake, financial document analysis, DSCR calculation, risk flag review, and credit memo generation. Both use the same underlying AI engine; the interface and outputs are tailored to each vertical.
Data & Security
What external data does Argonaut use?
Argonaut enriches every record with structured attributes across 16+ categories: entity identity and registration, firmographic profile, industry classification, safety and regulatory record, transportation and fleet, environmental and hazard exposure, financial and lien signals, credit data, sanctions and compliance screening, litigation and legal exposure, fraud intelligence, adverse media, loss or claims history, weather event verification, property and replacement cost data, and industry benchmarks. See the
Data Ecosystem page for the full attribute list and source providers.
Does Argonaut integrate with my existing systems?
Currently live: Google Drive (document context for Argo AI), Gmail (email thread context), Google Calendar (meeting and renewal context). Coming soon: Applied Epic, AMS360, HawkSoft, EZLynx (insurance); LOS integrations for lending. Argonaut also accepts intake via API, web form, or email — and exposes a webhook layer for downstream notifications and system integrations.
How is sensitive submission and financial data handled?
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Submission documents and extracted data are stored in isolated, org-scoped database collections — no cross-tenant data access is possible at the data layer. Authentication uses role-based custom claims (broker, carrier, MGA, lender, admin); every data read and write is enforced at the database security-rules layer. Financial documents uploaded by lenders are isolated per user and never shared across accounts. See the
Security page for the full posture documentation.
